Meeting Point & Time:
Please meet at the Norwegian Travel Shop - Tromsø Havn Prostneset, top floor (Samuel Arnesens gate 5).
Meeting times are 17:45 and 18:15. Between 16–31 March 2024, an additional meeting time of 18:45 is available.
What to Bring or Rent:
Dress warmly in layers: wool base layers, a down jacket, hat, scarf, mittens, and warm socks are highly recommended.
If needed, you can rent thermal suits, boots, cameras, and tripods directly at the meeting point.
Accessibility Information:
If you have any disabilities, please inform the organisers at least 24 hours in advance so they can best accommodate your needs.
The tour is generally accessible for guests with walkers, canes, or manual wheelchairs (if able to take a few steps). Wheelblades may help on snow and ice. There’s ample storage under the bus for mobility aids. Note that the bus has stairs, but guides are ready to assist. Moving around at stops may be limited on uneven terrain.
Restrictions:
Pets are not permitted, and alcohol consumption is prohibited. Intoxicated guests may be refused access.
Departure & Duration:
The buses depart at 18:00 and 18:30 (with an additional 19:00 departure between 16–31 March).
Tours typically last 6–7 hours.
The Mission:
Your guides’ primary goal is to find clear skies and low light pollution, chasing the perfect conditions to witness the magical aurora borealis. This may involve travelling to several locations, truly dancing with the elements to maximise your chances.
Comfortable Journey:
You’ll travel on a modern tour bus equipped with free WiFi and a small toilet (similar to an airplane lavatory). An English-speaking guide will accompany you.
On-Site Amenities:
At your viewing stop, enjoy hot drinks and biscuits to keep warm as your guides ensure your comfort outdoors.
Photography:
When the Northern Lights appear, a photography guide will take professional portrait photos, available for free download within 48 hours (and stored online for one month). High-resolution images optimised for printing can also be purchased. Your guide can also share tips if you’d like to capture your own photos.
Please Note:
Dinner is not included, so plan to eat beforehand. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed — but your guides will use their expertise to give you the best possible chance.
Return to Tromsø:
Return times vary, depending on how far the chase takes you, weather conditions, and aurora activity.
Accessing Your Photos:
Professional photos from your tour will be ready for free download within 48 hours, available online for one month.
